Yarg Funding Overview
Yarg Foundation has focused its funding strategy on two initiatives with multi-year commitments to the target issues and geographies below.
Justice Reform Initiative invests in policy organizations and direct-service programs that interrupt the cycle of mass incarceration and support the needs, rights and health of people impacted by the criminal legal system.
Healthy Families Initiative invests in statewide policy and research focused comprehensive health education and access; parenting education programs and services in Lane County; and programs that support and develop healthy relationships of and among children in South Lane County.
In addition to the two initiatives there is limited funding to support efforts around
Civic Engagement and Youth Leadership for the Environment.
Justice Reform Initiative Funding Overview
Policy organizations working on policies that tackle issues surrounding the Public Defender System, Measure 11 Reform, Support for Children with Incarcerated Parents, and Prison Program Reform.
· In 2023, $475,000 was distributed among 8 organizations
Community organizations committed to the Transforming Justice Coalition.
· In 2023, $160,000 was distributed among 8 organizations
Youth Intervention Programs focused Youth Intervention & Support for Children and Young Adults Impacted by Parental Incarceration with the goal of reducing the trauma and obstacles caused by engagement with the criminal legal system.
· In 2023, $540,000 was committed and distributed to 11 organizations
We are grateful for foundation partners—Gray Family Foundation, Meadow Fund, Northwest Health Foundation and Neuner Fund at Oregon Community Foundation—for supporting the Youth Intervention grant program through collaboration, funding and expertise.
Healthy Families Initiative Funding Overview
Organizations working on Statewide Policy & Research focused on Comprehensive Health Education and Access
· In 2023, $370,000 distributed among 5 organizations
Parenting Education organizations serving Lane County, Oregon
· In 2023, $260,000 distributed among 6 organizations
South Lane County Programs that support and develop healthy relationships of and among children ages 5 to 18 programs through mentorship, activities, advocacy and education.
· In 2023, $685,000 distributed among 28 programs
Civic Engagement Focus Area Funding
· In 2023, $180,000 over 7 organizations
Youth Leadership for the Environment
Initiative Funding
Funding to support a healthy, thriving, and sustainable Oregon by empowering high-school age youth to use their leadership skills in the environmental sector.
· Yarg has committed $1.65 million to the Gray Family Foundation Youth Leadership for the Environment Initiative distributed over the years 2020-2028.
